I bought both the lonely planet Reykjavik pocket guide and full Iceland book.Overall I'd say the Reykjavik pocket guide was a better buy. It had enough info about Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, Reykjanes peninsula, South Coast, and other surrounding areas that it was all we really needed for our 6 day trip to the city (well.. this guide along with tripadvisor and google maps, of course!). While the "Iceland" guide was larger and had more interesting cultural anecdotes, it was also heavier to carry and had a lot of useless info listing accommodation ad restaurants that might be outdated (and you can always use Tripadvisor for these things... who picks a hotel out of a guide book anyway?!). Go with this one.Note: I'm subtracting one star because I wish it had more maps (the Iceland guide didn't have enough maps either). Driving around Iceland was not as easy as we had hoped and we were lost a few times - luckily all the cars are hybrids and one tank of gas got us 790km (almost 500 miles). If this guide had more detailed locations of its attractions that would have been nice.

This was the best guide to take with to Iceland. It was small and easy to use. Reykjavik is not a large town and there are maps in every hotel the city has. Plus the locals all speak English - so you are never without assistance. Honestly, this was the best guide for taking with as it was light and compact and had all the information that I needed during my trip. The exhaustive list of accommodations in other books are completely useless once you are there. And a hint for Iceland - those accommodations should be booked ahead of time.

I will never travel without a Lonely Planet Pocket book. The size is great for carrying in your purse to consult for quick food & activity suggestions. So many of the food recommendations were excellent and affordable! I used the accommodations recommendations to book hostels & hotels before we traveled. I particularly LOVE the "Best of" selections. The attached maps also were so helpful. This book really made travel so easy and enjoyable.

This little book was a great help giving us the top things to do around Reykjavik, Snæfellsnes and Reykjanes Peninsulas - and everything in between! There are maps of each peninsula that we drove around and showed what not to miss. - not just descriptions. I really like the small size because it fit right into my purse! It gets right to the point of explaining key information about attractions and doesn't go into tons of tiny details and isn't wordy like the larger guides.

The Lonely Planet Pocket Reykjavik was a valuable source of information for us on our trip. I supplemented the information in the book with reviews on Trip Advisor and carried this book throughout Reykjavik. Following its advice we visited interesting sites, ate at good restaurants, and took advantage of the useful advice. I carried the book throughout the trip.

This little book is chocked full of information and it's laid out in a way that's very easy to read and follow. Very colorful as well. We haven't been on our trip yet so I can't speak it its accuracy but so far we love it. if your sticking to Reykjavik then this little guy is a handy tool!

Even though you can find everything online now, this guide was exceptional. And easy to bring along anywhere I went in Iceland.

Then read "The History of Jihad" by Robert Spencer to fill in the gaps.

Alarmingly apposite and engaging. Raymond Ibrahim hits the proverbial nail on the head with this strikingly important work. His writing style is palatable and ripe for mass consumption. I’d strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in understanding Christian-Islamic relations throughout history.Too many in the West remain perilously ignorant about true Islamic principles such as taqiyya, law of abrogation, etc. I’d recommend this book to anyone high school age older. If I could give it a six-star rating I would.

Because I’ve watched a lot of anime and read a lot of manga I’m more than familiar with harems, the largely illogical but all pervasive premise in which an average looking, average wealth, average ability, and virtually in all other ways average character doofus inexplicably finds himself the hotly pursued potential love interest of two or more drop dead gorgeous, way above his level, women, whom he cannot choose between, and if the story has any length to it, the number in his harem continues to increase. Worse, this story premise almost invariably involves no logical reason so many women would be so unrealistically interested in such a doofus, beyond the fever dreams of the average looking, virginal nerds who create the mangas and animes,...until now. In 2040 in Tokyo brilliant medical student Reito Mizuhara finally confesses his love to his childhood friend and fellow brilliant medical student Elisa Tachibana, who informs him that she was well aware of (and apparently not too impressed with) his feelings (or so she says), just before entering cryosleep in order to save his life from the absolutely fatal condition he just discovered he has until a cure is found. Five years later he awakens, cured, to a vastly changed world, created by the man killer virus, that has killed 99.9% of men, except for the 0.1% rushed into cryosleep (that may only have a year left anyway), and 5 men who shared the same fatal condition Reito had, whose cure has also given them immunity to the disease. Artificial insemination does not work so now they are checking to see if old-fashioned sex produces living children via impregnation (one so far) and that child’s sex and possible immunity has not yet been determined.To put it most bluntly, there are only 5 men and 5 BILLION women,... and the survival of the human race is at stake.Reito is Patient 2, the second one awakened; Patient 1, whom we meet is,... uh,... “hard at work” every day (and enjoying himself WAY too much). However, Reito is still in love with Elisa,... who has gone missing, but Reito has a clue to her whereabouts. He requests one month of delay during which he can search for Elisa, and his caretaker, Mira Suou agrees, provided he agrees to sleep every night with a woman of her choosing, starting with his assigned nurse and bodyguard,... in hopes that he might be “swayed”, and Reito agrees. By first book’s end his harem number arguably stands at 5, and Reito makes his decision, a good, sound, logical decision: dedicate himself to mating and he could produce 100 children per year at best (and it’s fairly obvious where that ends), but cure the MK virus, like Elisa was trying to do before she disappeared, and all the men in cryosleep could begin to mate, which could potentially restore the world. No problem deciding, right?Even the author admits at the end that this is a “silly male fantasy”, but it is a silly male fantasy that makes a lot more sense than any of the other silly male fantasy harem sagas I have ever heard of. Count me intrigued.Note: Female breasts are frequently bared so this is an Ecchi; be ye warned.Note: The saga continues in World's End Harem, Vol. 2,World's End Harem, Vol. 3, and World's End Harem, Vol. 4.

Despite being thought of as a male fantasy, I personally loved the story and read it straight through. Especially loved some of the characters that weren't exactly what you expected them to be but I don't want to go into much detail about them so I don't give anything away about the story. It was a very enjoyable read and I can't wait for the second volume to see where the story takes us.

I would say that this series is a guilty pleasure to read. A nasty virus wipes out most of the world's male population and only a few guys in stasis waiting to be cured of another disease are immune. And thus we focus on the 2nd person to be revived. Charged with helping repopulate the world. He finds himself unwilling to do so because he only wants to have kids with the woman he loves. And unfortunately, she's gone missing. So the path of temptation is laid before our protagonist as he decides he wants to find a cure for the disease instead of impregnating as many women as possible.Plenty of uncensored nudity in this series. And at last check 45 chapters have been translated. This book covering the first 6. It's going to be a long ride. But the story telling and artwork are top notch.

Looking for a boy+girl love story in a dystopian future where men are scarce and women will fight for the few that are left? Oh, and the main hero is on an epic quest to find that true love while rejecting all other 'opportunities' in his way. The world and science is actually pretty cool, too. Good luck!

I really like the storyline and the art design but I kind of expected it to be more of a comedy. You can definitely tell that the storyline is a bit dark but it does have its funny moments. This is definitely a good manga for mature readers.

As weird as it sound, the story so far has been pretty interesting, with characters I came to enjoy. From page 1 it throws one of the major harem cliches out the window, and by the end I'm left wanting to know more. I won't give away too much, but if you've been looking for a harem series that's not of the typical kind, pick this one up and give it a shot.

What would happen if half the world died? Will we get to a point where we really don't know how things work, to where we can't keep things up and running?Read and find out.

World's End Harem has a concept which is interesting. A plague wipes out all but a handful of the male population. The few remaining males are looked upon to repopulate the world. It's not original; I recall a Vertigo series Y: The Last Man also explored something along these lines. Given the harem in the title, I thought this would be a comedy. In fact, it's a drama, with some comic touches. We have Reito, a medical researcher in 2040 suffering from a disease and requires 5 years of cryogenic sleep. I was trying to help a friend that was getting hooked by one of the many TV and Radio high-pressure "GET RID OF ALL YOUR DEBT NOW" commercials which pop-up on late night programs. I searched the web and amongst all the internet adds that promise the same "Send us your money up front and we can help you" claims. I found this short but incredible playbook for doing it yourself or have friends help (like I am on their approved behalf) the Book is called "GET RID OF YOUR DEBT AND AVOID BANKRUPTSY" By: Attorney Jim Arnold. Easy read by us non-attorney types, and even when the explanations start to confuse, Mr. Arnold unclutters the court room definition to simple explanations... (No Latin Necessary") After half way through I called my friend who, I was trying to help, and said this Book is just what you need...to the point empowering helpful incites that make you say "Yes I Can"! Bravo Jim Arnold, you truly deserve the "Esq" after your name.

I enjoyed reading this. It contains a lot of good information on reducing or eliminating debt while avoiding bankruptcy ( hence the title). I appreciated the well written letters to creditors for negotiating settlements. I recommend this book to anyone struggling with debt, it's an easy to understand blueprint toward a solution.

I recently ran into financial problems that had me considering some pretty dire alternate courses to resolve the dilemma. Obviously, the surrounding stress and aggravation were cause for substantial worry about how I would be able to support myself and my family until I was able to resolve this issue. Frankly, I anticipated years of grief as I waded through the mire of creditor calls. I am not the type of person who, in all good conscience, could not face the people I owed money to, but that is exactly what I found myself doing as I avoided call after call. This was a problem for which I thought there was no solution.Then, just at the right moment, I came across a hard copy of Jim Arnold’s book (which has just become available electronically). In his book Mr. Arnold explains that he is a lawyer who has spent twenty-five years teaching people how to resolve their own debts without having to resort to the wrecking ball of bankruptcy. It is designed specifically for people like myself, who have gone through the financial devastation of a lost job, medical issues, spousal death or the break-up of a marriage. However, it also applies to any of the other numerous circumstances where people suddenly find themselves thrown into debt. The first response was to run and hide but it didn’t take me long to figure out that it gets you nowhere.Before reading Mr. Arnold’s book I went the usual route of debt counselors, debt consolidators and questionable attorneys – all who promised a solution. It quickly became obvious that they were becoming part of the problem, not part of the solution, and only making my situation worse. All of these approaches are dealt with in Mr. Arnold’s book and after analyzing each one he makes it appear obvious that the resolution comes from self-help, confronting your debtors directly and negotiating a reasonable plan to satisfy the debt that everyone can live with.In a short, concise yet incredibly specific manner Mr. Arnold walks you through the process of how to figure out what you can afford to pay based upon your assets and income. He gives you a step by step guide into convincing your creditors that what you are willing to offer is the best solution for them as well. His basic premise is very clear – people often owe an amount of money for bills they acquire in good faith, that they subsequently become unable to pay despite their best intentions. When this happens it is best to deal with your creditor directly and let him know that you are not being adversarial but are trying to work out a resolution that is within your means. Basically, this book teaches you how to get the message across (to people you owe money to) that you are trying to do the right thing but there are limits to what you can do. Then, the two parties can come to a reasonable resolution. If this sounds like a difficult (or near impossible) process for someone being harassed by creditors give this book a read. It really works any you’ll be able to sleep better at night.

About the Author

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on January 3, 1892, in Bloemfontein, South Africa. After serving in World War I, he embarked upon a distinguished academic career and was recognized as one of the finest philologists in the world. He was a professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford, a fellow of Pembroke College, and a fellow of Merton College until his retirement in 1959. I am a huge fan of the medieval masterpiece "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight," and so grateful that history was kind enough to leave us with a single surviving copy of it, so that we could realize how diverse, imaginative and rich in cultural mythology that Medieval society was. While we don't know the identity of the "Gawain Poet," his (or her) legacy has allowed us to realize that a local, native English literary tradition was thriving in the 14th century, and that many more masterpieces lost to us likely existed. I had read this poem years ago in a modern translation, and was instantly smitten .... The imagery that hearkened back to a deeply observant and poetic vision of the world, which so often seems lost in our digital-obsessed, anti-intellectual society today; the deft weaving of ancient pre-Christian symbolism with Christian themes prevalent at the time of the poem; the epic of Sir Gawain's quest, his inner turmoil and -- ultimately -- his humanity as he wrestled to reconcile his fear of what he was sure to be impending death with his sense of moral and chivalric duty: All these elements deeply resonated with me.As one with a deep and abiding love for and fascination with Old English and Middle English literature, culture, history and the medieval sensibility, I had come to want to experience this epic, powerful poem in its original tongue -- the northern Middle English dialect of the Gawain Poet. Finding such a copy -- and more than that, a version where the idiosyncrasies of that dialect's Middle English orthography were left intact (not standardized into Modern English equivalents) proved more challenging that I expected.When I learned that J.R.R. Tolkien -- not just beloved author of his own epic mythology, but eminent Old English (and linguistic scholar) -- had written his own analysis of the poem, and presented it, orthographically, virtually unchanged from the original, I was ecstatic. Tolkien's insights are to be trusted, and this particular book provides useful appendices on pronunciation of Middle English, notes on word meanings and interesting notes about the original manuscript in which the poem was discovered, and other fascinating context.For anyone with a love of historical English literature, this poem is a must, and I highly recommend reading this poem, if possible, in the original Middle English. So much is ultimately lost in translation -- especially when authors strive to preserve the unique alliterative structure of the poem. For those who might be intimidated by the quirks and inconsistencies of Middle English spelling, and the strangeness of several of the words, never fear: Middle English bears many similarities to Modern English, and once one gets a feel for the pronunciation (and becomes more acquainted with some key Middle English vocabulary), it becomes a thoroughly enjoyable and enriching experience to travel back nearly 700 years to recite this magnificent treasure of English literature in its original tongue.

The standard text for serious aficionados of "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight," edited byJRR Tolkien--cf Lord of the Rings. It still has the same green cover and illustration that it had35 years ago in my Pearl Poet class! It presents the Middle English text without the accompaniment of a modern English translation. However, 61 pages of detailed notes and 68 pages of extensive glossery make this bookwell worth having for those who want the experience of reading the original text. A lot is lost in translation,even within the same language. Going from Middle English to Modern English is a lot like drinking warm cokethat's been left out overnight in a glass--the real essence is gone. So I'd recommend the struggle the textdemands. It's really worth it and Tolkien's notes and glossery are a great help. You can get Tolkien's translation to Modern English in another book, without the Middle English, if you want to have that extra assistance.

The author of this little masterpiece is unknown. This story - or 'romance' if you like - was found in a little manuscript that was written in c.1380. There are three other stories in that manuscript presumably by the same author.King Arthur, his wife Guinevere, and the Knights of The Round Table are celebrating Christmas and New Year at the famous castle 'Camelot'. One evening a huge knight on horseback bursts into the Hall during dinner, brandishing a large and fearsome battle-axe. Everything about him is green, not only his armor - as one might expect - but also his face, his hair, and even his horse. He has come in peace as he is advertising more than once. In short he says: who is bold enough to step forward and try to chop my head off with this battle-axe? But after one year and a day it will be my turn to deal a blow. Gawain, one of the Knights of The Round Table, steps forward, takes the axe and beheads the Green Knight. As if nothing happened the Green Knight picks up his head, takes it under his arm and the head says: a year and one day from now it will be my turn to give you a blow. You have to promise that you will come looking for me. You can find me at the Green Chapel ( It's almost a joke but who knows? Maybe this is all just a joke ). If you survive my blow I will give you a great reward. The Knight doesn't want to say where the Green Chapel can be found. It's far away from here but you will find people who can show you the way. And remember, you promised. And so the adventure begins for Gawain. He has to go without a companion. He stands on his own for that was a part of the deal.This Fantasy element is the only one in the story. Everything else is realistic. That could be an indication that some scholars are right when they say that the Green Knight is a symbol for the reviving of Nature after the winter. There is a parallel between this symbolism and Gawain who's becoming more mature as the story unfolds. Throughout the story he's tempted in many ways to betray his vow of chastity and loyalty to the Virgin Mary, and near the and of the story he's tempted into cowardice. After all is said and done Gawain has a more realistic view on knighthood. He becomes adult and reaches a new stage in his life just like the revival of Nature by the Green Knight.One of the things I like in this medieval romance are the hunting scenes described very vividly and in great detail. It starts with a description of the animal they want to hunt down: its strong and weak points. During the chase it is as if you can hear the horns blow and the shouts of the hunters, the barking of the hounds and the grunting of the wounded animal and it ends with the cutting of the meat after the bowels are given to the hounds as a reward.Bernard O' Donoghue has done a very fine job in translating this little masterpiece of medieval literature. It's a vivid and a very readable verse translation of this engrossing adventure.

This was the first book I've read in this genre and to say it was a life-changer is an understatement. What started as "required" reading has become a book that has been read multiple times and shared dozens of times. During my journey toward higher levels of consciousness, greater awareness, and a more keen understanding of interconnectedness, Kathy's teachings, through this book, propelled me to a new pathway. With horse as teacher (and Kathy as scribe), I began to understand the powerful learnings that come from Horse. And as a bonus, I slowly began to learn the powerful results of being more intentionally present, the beauty of simple awareness and strength that comes from the two combined.

It is not often you can say a book changed your life, but that is exactly what this book did for me. While this book is especially powerful for horse and animal lovers it is also perfect for anyone who is looking to transform their life and find their true passion. Through powerful storytelling there are many lessons to be learned about life, the decisions you make, and how to find your true calling. I have since bought several copies of this book to give as gifts to family and friends.

If you're looking for a book with lots of true stories about living life, making mistakes, learning and growing with the help of horses, this is the book for you. The author's willingness to be honest and vulnerable in the presence of the reader invites personal reflection. The reverence, honor and love she shares with the horses that cross her path draws the reader into a world where horses can be seen for the truly majestic beings they are.

I LOVE this book! It’s a must-read for equine-assisted learning facilitators/coaches. Kathy offers real, applicable insight and writes beautifully with so many quotable quotes. 10 stars!

This book offers a beautiful glimpse into the transformational power of working with horses from a heart-centered place. It's a lovely read and invites curiosity about what might be possible when we are willing to show up in the world from a place of authenticity and courage.

This book brought me much insight into the magical world of horse and how they can be our greatest teachers and friends. Kathy had such a unique way of sharing her experiences she has had on her journey in the equine world that it left me wanting more. I look forward to future books with this author.

What a wonderful book. For anyone who loves horses and for those who want to find out what gentle and miraculous souls horses are, this book is for you.
