I took my test this morning and passed it !!. This book is ok, but should not be used alone. You will NOT have access to all the training videos for Network+ TotalSims(I did not subcribe). Which to me was a let down.I used CBT Nuggets, CertMaster, and Professor Messer videos to supplement my learning process.
Great book I got the kindle version. I took the Network+ test yesterday first time after studying about 4.5 months. Thanks God I passed it.My advise to everyone to pass network+;-Read the book.-Watch the videos(Mike Meyers& Professor Messer).-Memorize the acronyms and everything in exam objectives.-have some hands on experience or simulations.-If you are not confident to pass at the first time get free retake option($100 more)
This was the only book I used for my Network+ exam. I can say that it covered every objective expected on the test. I did not use the CD included with the book. I also paired the book with Professor Messer notes and videos for further explanations on concepts that I needed additional information on. I passed the test on my first try. I studied for about three weeks and probably read this book four times.
This book helped me pass the N+ 006 . The book covers all the objectives pretty well. I read the book twice and took the practice exams. I also usedProfessor Messer videos also.
It is a good book if your starting from the ground up. I have 25 years of IT experience and was just trying to get some certs back on my resume. I quickly got tired of combing through this book looking for the bits I didn't know and got a different book with less fluff and more pointed details. However, I enjoyed reading it. It was well written and covered most of the material. But not all so you will still need to pull from several other resources. I passed on the first try but it was a rather difficult test due to the vast amount of material covered.
I thoroughly enjoy the text transcribed in this textbook. I do have a few concerns/statements though. I would not use this alone, as other readers have stated, to pass the Network + exam. I would highly recommend Wikipedia along with hours of taking the multitude of free practice tests on line in order to prepare yourself more for the exam. I would highly prescribe other materials along with this in order to ensure the success of the exam. Google is your friend when it comes to this stuff, along with examcompass, crucialexams, and there are few more. You can also pay to get some of the VCE practice exams that simulate the Network + exam environment - allows for interactive scenarios etc.Word of warning : The CD included with this book is absolute garbage. It's all just basically trying to get you to buy more stuff. The free video included is about 2mins long.
Mike Meyers has a way of delivering the content in a conversational style that keeps you reading. This made it easy to get through the material. The book even divides the book into history and test specific which I appreciated because you can skip to what's pertinent. Now, where the book fell short is how they advertise all of these supplemental features like practice tests. It's a farce... They are just samples to get you to buy his products from his company. The files are not accessible on mobile devices. The book is a good companion to the Lynda.com Network+ course.
This is an excellent book, but not anywhere near what's needed to pass the Network+ test. I was able to answer all the chapter questions and practice questions on the included cd easily, but still had trouble with the test. I memorized so many standards, protocols, and details and the test was all troubleshooting and long scenarios that are only a small part of this book. It's not primarily fact based like the A+ test. Additional modules have to be purchased from Meyers site or from Comptia to get the practice and understanding that's needed.
