The book takes place far in the future: 2012. The world has been at the brink of nuclear war for 60 years. Dr. Wogan has invented, or nearly invented (an extremely aggravating detail) a radiation neutralizer that will mitigate against the effect of nuclear weapons. This brilliant scientist must make these plans public so everyone can build one, or else if only a small group of people have their hands on it, they can start a nuclear war, be immune to it themselves, and take over the world. The plot is terrible. I am flabbergasted that this book was reissued. In the era of the internet, the problem of this book is solved: publish the plans, and if they aren't finished yet, let crowd-sourcing work on the problem. If they aren't finished enough so that they would be useful to scientists, then who cares about them? The obvious solution to the problem presented in this book is to widely disburse the plans. Too bad the good doctor wasn't brilliant enough to invent a series of tubes called the internet to disburse his plans! There are literally zero satisfying endings. The neutralizer is never built, and the plans in whatever state they exist are never disseminated. This failure sort of points out how lame the premise of this book is.Other nonsense often ensues in your pursuit of finding Dr. Wogan, who has left our group of scientists (the Delta group -- we are world famous!) because word of his invention has gotten out, and he feels he is in danger. No one seems concerned at finding the traitor within Delta Group who let certain evildoers know about this device -- which seems like a major faux pas. And even though I am a young kid, I am implausibly inserted into a number of dangerous situations, and acknowledged by friend and foe to have a key role in whatever is going on, even though what is going on is never quite clear. They also don't mention that a nuclear weapon can still do plenty of damage, even if the effects of radiation are eliminated. None of it really makes much sense, and if you're like me, you won't understand what you are doing, or care very much.In a first for me, I noticed that one of the choices explained your rationale in arriving at the choices, "Do x because you don't trust them, or do y, but keep an eye on them the whole time" something like that. I did appreciate that subtle detail, because the big details were simply absent.I don't recommend devoting a scientific career to inventing a radiation neutralizer, but if anyone tries it, it should be Antonio Cesaro.

This book, and probably all the newer editions of the CYOA series has nice comprehension quizzes for readers like me who have read all the endings. Also, the people quoted are different. There are readers in the front no the inside quoted, but there are 26-29 year olds quoted who miss this part of their childhood me included! It is like that little secret that you like but you do not want to admin if you are as old as I am.There are ads in the back of the book indicating that Montgomery is starting backup some of the children's series of the book, another ad for the Abominable Snowman DVD Choose Your Own Adventure - The Abominable Snowman. An ad says that there's a book called "The Golden Path" that was released 10/10/07, but I cannot find it on the CYOA website now. I have already written them to ask about the ad. There is also an "Adventurer's Log" where a person can write notes in the book if they would like. The only thing I do not like about the new series is that it is all based on R.A. Montgomery's numbering rather than using the old numbering system. This is the best book that I can remember of R.A. Montgomery's I have read in the series so far. It has mystery, surprises, and a great mix of good and bad endings. Most of the endings are bad. So if you cannot handle that, , avoid #138 and #46 of the old series, and try reading #184 of the old series. You could go anywhere from trusting or avoiding strangers to getting kidnapped to your doom or finding Dr. Wogan and saving the world, publishing her plans so that the whole world instead of no one knows, you could find Dr. Wogan, but both of you end up as prisoners or dead, or you may even find a magical book that does weird things. Montgomery falls short on a few of his endings and they get so wordy that it just isn't great story making. He was trying to think in depth, maybe too in-depth for a teenage story ending in such a way that a few of the endings just do not work. "Time is on your side and both of you know it" does not sound like a great ending at all. Or the ending of "I must escape" without any real indication of if you've actually escaped or not.The CYOA series still do have their "signature bad endings" where instead of saying you "die" or are imprisoned for the rest of your life, their language is more to the tune of (something bad happens) and you become a part of that situation as well.

Alright, this book has a lot of high and low points but I'm going to tell you now: This book is MEANT to make fun of those "inspirational quotes", not to actually BE them. And to parents that want to get this book for your kid, ask yourself this: Are they in High School? Then buy it. And if your child buys it for themselves don't confiscate it. Parents are blind to what goes on in younger society and I can say that once you hit high school your innocence is pretty much gone, same with your filter. My recommended age group however, is 16 to about 20. This book really is meant to target teens because it's basically a slap of reality.I've been suffering with depression for a long time, and I've read this book during my low points to pick me back up (if you can believe that, then keep reading). The jokes are meant to poke fun at how there are inspirational quotes all over the Internet, and yet most people don't do anything past making a pretty quote on paper. The book itself is basically like a huge joke, and the with an ending like "I lied" I would hope that many would see that. This book is not anymore of a joke than those "journal" books (that I've done so many of in attempts to keep my depression in check). Sure it's not what you expect, but it really is a pleasant book when you understand it on a basic level as humor and a cool play on irony.Buy at your own risk, if you're not ready to handle a slap in the face by reality kids then don't take it. If you're an adult buying for a child check it out at a local bookstore first, or just buy it as I said and let them experience it.//my two personal favorite quotes are in the pictures

A very colorful and entertaining book. ^_^ I enjoy books like this one that aren't "real" books with just words in them. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading a good book, but, I also enjoy fun books that are mostly pictures with funny phrases or "quotes" in them. This is also the first book I have ever purchased/own from a YouTube star, especially from one of my favorites. I admire PewDiePie's book being different from the other YouTube stars that have been coming out this year since most of theirs are autobiographies about themselves, which is interesting but I find it kind of boring after a while. Plus I get the humor with what this book has, unlike some people taking it seriously when it's really not meant to be serious at all. At least that's what I understand from my P.O.V. Luckily I managed to buy my copy of the book for a real low price (and in great condition too) since I bought it as a "used" item here on Amazon.com. So all in all it wasn't a bad pay. It was worth it for my sister and I to enjoy it because we're both fans of him. ^_^ No matter what people say, I love Pewd's first book. :3 P.S. I love the new book smell it came with. xD

Surprisingly funny. I love his videos, but I seriously expected the book to be pretty bad. It's actually funny enough to where I laughed out loud a couple times. It's a full-sized book, but not a lot of words on each page, so it's a short read. The pictures that go with each quote are very well done, in my opinion. The book makes fun of inspirational quotes, but it can seem bad to people who don't understand sarcastic humor like that.To parents wondering if they should buy it for their kid: There are no "bad" words, but there are references to them. In addition, it is a satire, so you have to make sure your kid understands dark sarcasm. It is pretty clean otherwise and I would recommend it.

Daughter wanted this book, I have to say I was not sure what it was about. to me it is a sick twist of humor. It is for her for a gift, so I would check to make sure that is okay for your child's age group.

An impulse buy.. I don't see this winning any awards, but great used as silly bathroom reading material! I'm not sure what I was expecting from this book but it's something I feel like I wouldn't exactly recommend it to someone to buy for it's quality, more so as a conversation piece haha. Or maybe even as a gift for a Pewdiepie fan!

Such a cute book! I enjoyed reading through every page and having a few laughs as well as a few good thoughts within it. A book like this probably isn't meant to make you think too hard, but I took every page into consideration and overall, had a fun time reading!! It is quite a quick read though if you merely skim through the pages which consist of mostly pictures and then a quote on one side of the page or both. If you want an in depth book to merely read without much thought, then this is not for you!I recommend this book to Pewdiepie fans and for those who tend to overthink or take time to analyze quotes and meanings meant behind them like me!Brofist!!Would definitely order again! :D

Magnificent masterpiece by our lord and savior PewDiePie. I love every single quote, and I also related to some of them. Specially the one about a lot of fish in the sea. The pictures where awesome, just beautiful. Thanks Pewds, for making something this incredible. *Bro fist*

i have no idea who the target audience for this book is. i have no idea why Pewdiepie made this book. it's mostly a picture book with a sentence or two on each page.

It is a book for specialists. In order to fully appreciate the contents you should have a physics, maths or computation science diploma. It contains a good introduction on Quantum mechanics, but for people that have already assited an introductory course on the field. Concerning the main subject: quantum computation, this book is the most complete review of the field and also suitable for a course on QC.

I'm an undergraduate student in Computer Science, doing my Diploma (BS/MS) thesis on Quantum Computing and Algorithms. If you are computer scientist, mathematician or physicist and you want some startup information, this is the book you are looking for. Although, the book doesn't assume that you have appropriate background on mathematics or computer science, it will be good that you have some affiliation with linear algebra, tensor calculus and basic computational complexity concepts. The book is excellent for self study and research, containing many exercises. Another more mathematical book is Classical and Quantum Computing (AMS) by Kitaev, Shen and Vyalyi. It cannot complement the first book but it will give you precise mathematical approach on computational complexity-classical computing (first 50 pages), which is needed to continue and understand concepts of quantum complexity classes and quantum algorithms.

This is an excellent book about a topic which becomes more importantwith each passing month. It is written at a graduate level, such thatyou really need to have had a college-level quantum mechanics course,or equivalent. Most of the book uses bracket notation.

I'm a master student in the field of electrical engineering and quantum cryptography gona be my thesis topic. I found this book comprehensive and useful as a book for starters. If you resist the second chapter which is a compressed chapter on linear algebra(it tries to teach you a complete under graduate course on linear algebra in 30 pages!!!) then you'll be pleased with the rest of the book ("I'm in the middle right now").

I've recently purchased this book, and have only read the first 50 or so pages. However, it is clear thus far that the authors have invested alot of time in making such a complex topic as clear as possible, with simple examples to express fundamental concepts. I'm looking forward to reading the rest.

In fact I read it every day and then I find myself falling asleep. I even use it as a bed time story for my 1.5 years old son. works like magic, the only problem is sometimes I fall asleep before him.

There is great excitement currently about quantum computing and its laboratory realization. Recent press releases have indicated successes in implementing quantum computation and this no doubt has encouraged the excitement. The authors of this book have been directly involved in the experimental and theoretical developments behind quantum computing and have written a fair summary of the subject as was known at the time it was first published (2000). The theory behind quantum computing is outlined in some detail in the book, but the experimental situation is not, and this is disappointing since it is the laboratory realization of quantum computing that is most interesting. Most implementations of quantum computing theoretically are dependent on the notion of entanglement of states, and in my opinion there is no convincing experimental evidence of entanglement. Theoretical constructions that employ entanglement have grown considerably in recent years, but the experimental situation is far behind these developments. This book unfortunately does not look critically at the experimental justification for entanglement, but uses concepts of entanglement throughout to lay the groundwork for a theory of quantum computation. Indeed one could say that the entire book rests on the notion of entangled states and being able to manipulate these states via various transformations, called 'entanglement transformations' by the authors. The authors do however devote an entire chapter to the physical realization of quantum computers , although again no real experimental data is given. The role of the decoherence time is emphasized in the discussion, and a chart is given listing rough estimates for decoherence times for various candidate realizations of quantum computers. Several different scenarios for quantum computers are outlined in the chapter, and the discussion gives some credence to the view that the theory of quantum computation has some physical meaning to it, rather than just a theory of computation based on the properties and geometry of Hilbert space. Indeed, one could easily take this later viewpoint, as it is one thing to call a mathematical construction 'quantum' and another to really find a physical (quantum) system that actually behaves in a manner compatible with these constructions. If one is to speak of 'quantum' computation and not just 'Hilbert space' computation, one must show beyond doubt that the system executing the computation is indeed a physical and quantum one. A mere statement that 'physics is computation' is not enough. Indeed, there are a few examples of using Hilbert space properties to enhance the performance of various algorithms. For example, one can speed up the training portion in neural networks by complexifying the weights. In addition, one can employ a tunneling scheme to alleviate the problems of local minima in these networks, and in gradient algorithms in general. These approaches all take advantage of Hilbert space geometry and the ability to do superposition of states, but none of them correspond at all to physical systems, let alone quantum ones. They are merely mathematical tools used to speed up (dramatically in some cases) a particular algorithm. There has also been a great deal of very exciting research in the employment of the 'quantum' point of view in pure mathematics. New methodologies have been developed for handling difficult mathematical results using such a viewpoint and these have resulted in brilliant developments, especially in differential topology and algebraic geometry. The chapter on distance measures for quantum information in this book could be viewed as part of these developments and strategies. The definition of the fidelity between two quantum states is purely a mathematical convenience that is used (albeit productively) to derive quantities that behave as one would want them to (viewing from a classical standpoint). No physical relevance is given for this metric in the chapter, although it is interesting from a mathematical standpoint. The authors are honest to admit this though, for they state that notions of quantum information are in a state of infancy and no solid (physical) definitions have been given as of yet. If more time were spent on the analysis of the raw experimental data behind the efforts to build quantum computers, and less on purely theoretical considerations, this book would have been a lot more helpful. The literature is bursting with papers on entanglement and its relation to quantum computing and quantum information, but unfortunately, not enough critical analysis of the experimental situation. This book is no different in this regard, but the authors are still enthusiastic about the prospects for quantum computing, difficult as they are. One can only hope that their efforts are successful, that such machines will be built soon, as the consequences are awesome.

The book is good and gives you a general view of quantum information and computation. However, the size of the book disencourages beginners to read it.
