No deprevation here! There are hundreds of colorful, fresh and inviting recipes to choose from in this collection of healthy recipe choices for diabetics. Plenty of full color photography, easy to follow instructions and a great introduction on how to "plan your plate" if blood sugar issues require you to consume dishes that are low-calorie and carb smart. Diabetic Living has done an excellent job of enabling diabetics to get the nutrition they need in the guise of fresh, delicious, easy to prepare meals.

We bought this because my husband was recently diagnosed with diabetes and want a shock that was to us! I’ve never had to think about the carb and sugar intake in our food and with this book I’ve learned to look at food so much differently! I’ve not made any of the recipes however I can’t wait to try them out! The recipes are fabulous! The pictures make everything in the book look great! We’re both excited about making these recipes and there are so many to choose from so you don’t have to worry about what to make that’s different from the week before! Over 400 recipes you can have a different dish everyday of the year! Excellent book!

I got this book for a newly diagnosed diabetic. She thanked me - and continued to offer me new ideas to try. I was surprised that the items actually tasted great. I would not have guessed that it was from a Diabetic Cookbook... I then purchased my own copy. It was not disappointing. We talked about it at a friends birthday party and shared the recipe for the desert I had brought. Success - who knows how many more copies will be sold - a lot of people there liked the idea of reducing their sugar intake and eating healthier. They were pleased that it could still taste good. I continue to be pleased again and again that I had found this cookbook and can share it with others. I don't have a diabetic in my immediate family. We do have diabetic friends. I started just using this book for their support and it has made my daily healthy choices more frequent, easier and fun.

This cookbook is great! It divides the recipes into categories and not by food content. There is a BBQ section, cooking for two and simple meals. It also has valuable information to help with portion control when you don't always have a measuring cup. We are enjoying the recipes! Great buy!

Chock full of delicious recipes! I loved making the desserts for my family. my 5 yr old loved the pudding and the baked apples! Many of the recipes require a trip to the store before making anything. But the food that comes out is really good, and there's lots of recipes to choose from. It will tell you what a serving size is and how much nutrition is in each size. I love that!

It hasn’t yielded as many wowzah recipes as I’d hoped. It’s just fine.

This book is extremely misleading. The recipes in this cookbook contain ingredients that are not friendly for diabetics. My husband cannot eat items like white flour, honey, barley, couscous, low calorie nacho cheese chips, cinnamon rolls?! DO NOT BUY if you are looking for diabetic recipes.

Have given 2 or three of these to friends newly diagnosed with diabetes....they love them !!!

About the Author

Gaillard R Peck Jr. is an Air Force Academy graduate and retired US Air Force colonel. He graduated top of his class during pilot training, but was denied his career goal of a fighter assignment, instead being retained as an instructor. F-4 training eventually followed this initial interval, along with an immediate combat assignment to the 433rd Tactical Fighter Squadron. He subsequently flew 163 combat missions, many of which were conducted at night, and was awarded the Silver Star and three Distinguished Flying Crosses. He later served as an instructor in the MiG-17 and later both the F-5E and MiG-21 as a 'Red Eagles' aggressor pilot in the program known as Constant Peg. His career continued with assignments to Saudi Arabia during the Iran/Iraq War and as an operational F-15 Eagle pilot and commander in Japan. Peck retired from active duty in 1988, and since 1998 he has been an F-15C, F-22, and Special Ops academic instructor at the USAF Weapons School at Nellis AFB. He lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
