I did not realize when I was buying this that it is not the full guide book. This "encounter" guide does not have anywhere near the coverage of the full Lonely Planet Cancun, Cozumel & the Yucatan (Regional Travel Guide). It covers way fewer places, and those places that are included have absolutely minimal coverage. It includes no hotel coverage whatsoever and the descriptions of the restaurants and sites that are included are significantly shorter than in the full version. The only potential advantages that I see over the full guide book are that it includes more photos and the maps are in full color. I don't care about either of those things and would far prefer the deeper coverage of the full guide.

I purchased this guide before going to Cancun and staying in Zona Hotelera. The background information was very useful, making suggestions for tipping, getting around, etc. But in the individual section for the area I was staying in, there were not many recommendations for restaurants and sites, and no hotel recommendations. I understand that that the "Encounter" series is meant to be a more abridged version, but I have purchased ones for other cities that contained more details.

Book described places to go when traveling to Cancun. I am a fan of the Lonely Planet affordable locations, so I would definitely recommend.

This is a small book, it is not as comprehensive as the other Lonely Planet books.I missed reviews of hotels.

My girlfriend and I took this book with us on our trip to the Yucatan and it proved to be an excellent resource! The reviews and suggestions were spot on and up to date. Unlike many guide books this one is updated annually which Is very important in a country like Mexico where things change quickly. I also appreciated the personal input and data for sites, activities, restaurants, lodging - it was great having personalized traveling advice. I also like the way the book is laid out making it easy to navigate. This guide was our constant companion and advisor and proved an invaluable resource. The trip would not have been the success it was without this book!And for a great beach read I highly recommend A Tourist in the Yucatangreat thriller!

This book, like most Lonely Planet books, is very well done and informative. If you are like me, you like to go somewhere and be as prepared as possible when traveling. It always saves time and money to come prepared. In addition to buying this book I also purchased the Scuba Diving In Mexico Success Guide, as we went down to the Yucatan Peninsula for the scuba diving Your Scuba Diving in Mexico Success Guide. I usually like to pick up guides to wherever I travel 2-3 weeks out. Both books were very well done and easy to understand.

I was looking for a guide book for a short trip to the Yucatan and thought when I found this title it would be useful while in the area. I was disappointed to find that really, it only covers Cancun and sites close to it. There isn't much helpful information if you're traveling the greater Yucatan area. I'll be leaving it home when we go. The more appropriate title would be, The Cancun Encounter.

It’s an intellectually serious book that anyone who’s seeking a way forward from the growing nihilistic will to power that’s prominent in our political discourse could gain by reading.

Richard did a fabulous job showing the inextricably relationship libertarianism has with western civilization and vice versa. He does not mince words and has no issue identifying the sociobiological relationship between ethnic Europeans and libertarian ideals. This book is a MUST read!

An excellent read for those who doubt the compatibility of libertarian political philosophy with Western civilization, or for those who scoff at the suggestion that Western peoples and cultures are uniquely suited to the creation and maintenance of a libertarian social order. Overall a refreshing perspective rooted in realism concerning ethnicity and culture.

The document opens in Kindle in an unreadably small font. The usual font size controls have no effect. Don't get it here until this problem is fixed.

This is a well thought out and well presented study of he development of Natural Law and the success of Western Civilization.

An honest and good perspective from a man who is doing the work of good. Definitely a must read for those wanting to know the reality of which we are dealing with today.

While Noa is trying to cope with that loss, she becomes intrigued and drawn to the new transfer student, Callum, who, she learns, also suffered a similarly haunting loss. What I loved about Callum was that you were never sure if you could quite trust him. Was he the hero of the story? Or was he something else? The same went for Judah; you started out wanting to think the worst of him, but as the story went on, his character becomes more and more complex. She lives day by day and finds her saving grace in poetry. But then her school gets a new student - Callum and she is mesmerized by him. But she can't get over the feeling that he is somehow different. And she is right. Callum is a Fae. He needs Light to survive, BUT the Light is drawn from humans and whenever the light is drawn also a happiness is drawn from humans. Callum is having difficulties to stay away from Noa, but at the same time he knows if they become too close he can put her in danger. In addition to complicate things, people/enemies from Callum's world are coming up and hunting him.I absolutely loved this book. Ful od suspense, secrets, surprises and I absolutely love Callum.The writing is amazing and the storyline is very unique. Cannot wait for the next book!!!

The idea of this book is absolutely fantastic. I adore the world concept and the existence of Color Fae and Clear Fae and their differences in ability. Noa's family's storyline is endearing and genuine and has so much heart. I really like Callum; then Judah shows up, and I *maybe* like Judah more. Olivia and Miles are excellent friends to Noa, and I'm hoping that they will be clued into everything in the future books because they totally deserve it. There are also some fun twists thrown into the mix of the story that hook the reader into needing the next book for sure.The only real issue I take with Shattered Blue is that the world building (and much of the brothers' story in general) is given solely through dialogue, rather than in any sort of real scenes, which makes me a little sad because I immensely enjoy the background knowledge and I would have liked some flashbacks or bad dreams to *show* me how the story unfolds. Overall, though, Shattered Blue is a lovely read, and I happily await buying the sequel.

Any insatiable reader will recognize a fundamental piece of herself in Noa, our heroine, a brave poet who will discover the beautiful warrior within herself as a universe full of magic unfolds before her eyes. I think that avid readers, readers who fell in love with books at a very young age and who never stopped loving or reading them (so many seem to stop reading), readers who feel more in common with characters than with other people, readers who are often private, reserved (or at least selectively or even secretly reserved), readers trained by hours of sojourning in the minds of others to think deeply and with consequence, cannot help but feel a kinship with other avid readers. I have no doubt that Horowitz is a keen and devoted reader. She writes like (and for) someone who loves to read, with narrative intelligence, clever dialogue, pace, and a great story.Noa is a wonderfully written character, nuanced with flecks of light and dark. Anyone who has a small child to love will delight in reading about her relationship with her younger sister, and what tale of coming into your magical powers is complete without a wrenching love story? She has a solid supporting cast, too, with honorable mention going to her best friend, an incredibly vivid character drawn in (relatively few!) quick, bold strokes. And the boys...the boys are fun.For those YA lovers who crave fresh fantasy, this world is something new. Horowitz has done an excellent job of implying a rich, elaborate new world of fae and light without tiring us with exposition. She prompts us to wonder and wonder, planting mysteries, and one is immediately relieved to know this is just book one of three in the trilogy, and there is much more to come.

The cover instantly drew me in and I've never read anything about Fae so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm glad I went into this blind, it really left me open to any possibility of what may happen. I love books with alternating POV and it ending with Judah's really made it come full circle. I thought I was going to be so invested in Callum and Noa, then the real pieces of Judah started showing and I found myself fighting internally between which brother would be better for her. Sasha was a little mystery from the beginning, she encompassed a young child while also seeming to understand so much more. I will definitely be waiting impatiently for the next installment.
